Cold Spring Opening!

IMG_8060.JPG

We couldn't be more delighted to announce that we have opened our doors at our new location in beautiful Cold Spring, at 153 Main Street, where we will have our design studio, some of our antiques, and a small but fabulous selection of Scandinavian gifts, homewares and even those irresistible Danish marzipan bars (come Christmas).  Inventory is still arriving, so we are getting going 'stille og rolig' as the Danes say (nice and easy). On September 15th we will celebrate our 'grand opening' the true Danish way, with Elderflower spritz and 'kranskage'!

Situated in the gorgeous Hudson Highlands, Cold Spring is a wonderful day trip destination from many points in the Hudson Valley, We hope you will stop by and say hello!

New Showroom

This spring has seen our little business take some big new steps! We have relocated our show room/ antiques storage space to a delightful converted barn situated on 40 acres of land in Croton on Hudson, and enjoyed a wonderful 'barn raising' with friends and family at the end of April.

We are also finishing up a major decorating project, a gorgeous 2 bedroom Hudson River Penthouse. We will have pictures up online very soon.  And lastly, we have now officially moved the business up to Cold Spring, NY, and will continue to work with clients in the greater New York city and Hudson Valley areas.  As always, we welcome any inquiries or suggestions for creative collaboration!

Late Summer Blooms

This morning's trip to the farmer's market entailed gathering up a big bunch of blossoms for an upcoming event.

Cosmos and snapdragons were among the old garden favorites...The lush vibrant colors feel perfect for a late summer gathering of loved ones.

The colors also inspired a revisiting of fabrics being considered for a few upcoming projects...

These wonderfully textured, playful and classically beautiful swatches by Scalamandre, Colony Fabrics, and Timorous Beasties have all captured our imagination, as the summer heat continues to linger, grapes ripen on the vine, cicadas hum, knowing the first hints of deeper autumn hues are not far off.

Summer Fruits

The dog days of summer are upon us.  While Denmark has been having one of those (in)famously cool and rainy summers, here on the East Coast of the U.S. we've had a sweltering bout of July. A cooler breeze arrived with August, with higher skies and plenty of sun and, as always, the seasons bring their own treasures. This morning's harvest, from the farmer's market, of white peaches reminded us of the fabulous brocade we recently used to upholster our newest arrivals.

We love this fabric with its richness, and sheer enjoyment of voluptuous fruits and florals. And these peaches...with their sweet delicate allure and nectar fragrance, maybe the only thing to do is make a peach pie, open a bottle of Sauterne, and find a shady tree...
